Health department officials in two northeast Missouri counties reported COVID-19 related deaths Wednesday.

The Shelby County Health Department reported the first death of a Shelby County resident from coronavirus disease. The individual had been hospitalized for several weeks and all close contacts have been in quarantine and isolation.

The total COVID cases in Shelby County is 57, with ten active cases.

In Lewis County, health department officials reported the county’s fourth COVID related death, a resident in their 80s.

The Lewis County coronavirus total remains at 95, with 15 active and 76 recovered.
