With Elon Musk and his whiz kids using A.I. to go through federal departments and agencies in D.C. looking for waste, fraud and abuse, it has stirred questions of this being applied to each state’s agencies and departments themselves.

In Jefferson City there is a pro-active move being made to engage with the public on state government inefficiencies via a website that goes directly to lawmakers in the capital.

The Missouri Senate and House now have committees on State Government Efficiency that are going over the laws on auditing state government departments and agencies this week.

One thing that hasn’t been addressed yet (that I’ve found) is an independent group to do the auditing. Remember, audits happen in D.C. and agencies and departments fail these audits regularly. Nothing happens to correct because government investigating government presents opportunities for coverups instead of transparency, with zero responsibility for being poor stewards of the people's money.

Should Missouri government in Jefferson City want to put their best foot forward with the citizens of the state, there should be an agreed upon independent auditing group that are more than capable with A.I. as that is what is being employed at the federal level.

As of now you have an effort to begin the process, but there are already questions among elected officials about the process being politicized in favor of one party or the other.

Going through state government departments and agencies to root out fraud, waste and abuse is certainly a must. However, it must be done by an outside group whose only goal is to find those situations and occurrences. It shouldn't be done based upon individual elected state members or parties, cronies or those compromised to "look the other way" in some instances.

This needs to be done in the best interest of the taxpayers of Missouri. Not for political points and leverage.
