It's no secret that Illinois has higher gas prices than surrounding states due to that 10 percent sales tax that consumers are charged.

Matter of fact, out of 7 states that charge sales tax on fuel purchases, Illinois charges the highest rate of all.

Come on, Illinois. Drop the tax. Can't the state make up the difference with more customers staying within the state to purchase fuel, rather than driving to neighboring states to get their gas?  It's not just Missouri and Iowa.  Illinois loses revenue to Wisconsin, Indiana and Kentucky as well.

Nothing personal against MO and IA - You folks got it right the first time. It just stinks when I feel like I'm getting shafted, when I pay at least ten cents more a gallon at the IL station.

Tell me what you think about having to pay more in IL for your fuel.
