Can You Legally Decorate Your Car with Lights in Missouri?
I've seen this a few times already this season. Cars decorated with Christmas lights all over, and I love it, but can you legally get away with it?
People seem to be all in on the Christmas spirit this season, and I am loving every second of it. Jeeps, vans, and SUVs are all decked out in Christmas lights and shining bright, but is it legal? Most states have specific laws but in Missouri...
NO!
As nice and fun as it is to decorate your car with lights this season, in Missouri it's illegal to do so. Ultra Light Buzz says,
No. These decorative lights typically violate vehicle lighting laws that restrict colors and types of lights permitted on vehicles.
There are a few exceptions. If your vehicle is in a parade or parked and on display by all means you are good to go with decorating your car with lights. If the car is moving (besides a parade) then no lights can be on.
It's common sense Why
They are distracting. Especially if the car is Clark Griswold decorated. Every part of the car was covered with lights.
I would love to decorate my car, although my girls would be super embarrassed riding in it (silly teenagers). there are ways to decorate your car without having lights on it, There are magnetic lights you can use that don't light up or other fun ways to get in the Christmas spirit without getting in trouble with the law.
