Just announced this morning that the biggest bridal chain in America David's Bridal has filed for bankruptcy. Reports say the due to the pandemic, inflation, and decreased demand for wedding dresses have made the business suffer and are the reasons for the bankruptcy. This is not the company's first dealings with claiming bankruptcy, they also did this back in 2018.

In a statement, David's Bridal said that they would,

fulfill all customer orders without disruption or delay," but might be forced to wind down its operations if it cannot find a buyer.

So why are people not buying wedding dresses anymore? Could be that fewer people are getting married each year, according to the CDC data, dresses are not cheap, and stores like Kleinfeld in New York (which can be seen on TLC's Say Yes to the Dress) are becoming more popular because of the show. I don't know about you, but when I got married dresses were extremely high for me I can't imagine looking for dresses now.

Hopefully, David's Bridal can find a new buyer and everything will be ok, but much, like Bed Bath & Beyond and Party City, I think you are going to see more chains like these close for good.
