In all my years of listening to music and loving Star Trek, rarely do the two crossover as gloriously as this. I mean, sure Leonard Nimoy had The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins, Shatner does what he does (whatever that is), and 70s rocker Iggy Pop appeared on an episode of Deep Space Nine. But this combines my love of country music AND my favorite Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise: Jean-Luc Picard!

No, Patrick Stewart isn't releasing an earnest attempt at a country album, like Jeff Bridges, Clint Eastwood and Kiefer Sutherland. But he did cut an album for charity. You can visit this website to get the five track sampler of Stewart singing cowboy classics, and 100% of the proceeds go to the International Rescue Committee. Collin Raye's working on a Hank Williams tribute album... maybe he can enlist the help of Professor X on Honky Tonkin'.
