Preliminary Lineups Announced For Blues and Blackhawks Alumni Game Benefiting Tornado Victims
The Skate Strong exhibition hockey game, featuring St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks alumni, will take place in Peoria on January 15. The game is being organized to raise funds for victims of the tornadoes that devastated the Midwest on November 17. While the final lineups are still being put together, a preliminary list of players attending is now being reported.
According to the Peoria Journal Star, the tentative St. Louis Blues roster includes Kelly Chase, Reed Low, Jeff Brown, Terry Yake, Gino Cavallini, John Wensink, Alex Brooks and Steve Martins being coached by Bob Plager. Tony Twist and Perry Turnbull are scheduled to appear, but not play.
The Journal Star reports that the tentative Chicago Blackhawks roster includes Dave Mackey, Reggie Kerr, Murray Bannerman, Denis Cyr, Cliff Koroll, Grant Mulvey, Denis Savard, Reid Simpson and Bob Nardella.
Skate Strong will be at 7 p.m. on January 15 at the Peoria Civic Center’s Carver Arena, home of the Peoria Rivermen. A minimum $10 donation at the door is being requested for admission. Doors will open at 6 p.m. An auction for player jerseys will follow the game. Proceeds will be distributed by the Salvation Army Tornado Relief Fund.
The game format will feature two thirty-minute periods, with one twenty-minute intermission in between. Fans will be allowed to get autographs during the game and participate in a 50/50 drawing.
