Missouri is Home to the World’s Longest Stand-Up Waterslide
When I worked in the Kansas City metro (this was back in the 90's), Blue Springs was affectionately called B.S.MO. --Locals can be harder on their own than anyone else. But Blue Springs is trying to make people redefine their terms.
Now entering Blue Springs, Missouri
Last year (2024) Blue Springs Parks & Rec opened a huge indoor-outdoor water park called Blue Surf Bay water park. Pools and slides are certainly a draw, but there are other things contained within too. A rock climbing wall, a NinjaCross course that hangs from the ceiling and then drops into one of the indoor pools (???)
Blue Surf Bay Indoor/Outdoor Water Park
Aquatically there’s an indoor splash pad, a lifestyle pool for swim lessons and aquatic fitness lessons including physical therapy, a sauna and a hot tub. Yes, there’s an indoor water slide too. Outside there is a 40 foot tower that leads to several slides including the world’s longest stand up water slide.

There’s a lazy river to relax in, a wave pool with an attached activity pool. Bonus! The facilities include a double surf simulator where you can traditionally practice your surf skills or challenge yourself with a knee board. This facility is a stand out in a state that quite a few fantastic city parks department pool facilities.
