This morning in Grandview, Missouri (a south suburb of Kansas City) a black bear was spotted and filmed in the middle of a neighborhood not far from US Hwy 71.

There were several reports that came in to authorities in the area, including from police officers themselves. The Missouri Department of Conservation was alerted and someone at the Grandview Animal Control had to swallow hard to go find and corral the bear.

There was apparently a sighting of a black bear just across the border in Johnson County, Kansas yesterday. Don’t know if it’s the same bear, but that’s not that far away.

Black bears in Missouri tend to stay in the southern part of the state, but their numbers are growing. Missouri Department of Conservation says they don’t believe the bear would cross the interstate.
