Apparently ‘World Naked Gardening Day’ Is An Actual Thing
Are you getting naked this Saturday? World Naked Gardening Day is the first Saturday of May and according to the World Naked Gardening Day website (NSFW), people are encouraged "to tend their portion of the world's garden unclothed as nature intended."
I am just now hearing about this event, thanks to one of my Facebook friends sharing a poster. Turns out this event has been around since 2005.
Their website claims that gardening naked is actually fun and second only to swimming in terms of activities that people are ready to consider doing nude (and by "activities", we mean family friendly activities, so get your mind out of the gutter!)
The instructions on their website are pretty simple: Find an opportunity to get naked and do some gardening and tell someone about your experience.
The Grow Network, a website focusing on people who produce their own food and medicine, even has a page talking about the Dos and Don'ts of World Naked Gardening Day. They even have tips on how to show your friends you participated. Examples include using a strategically placed watering can, peeking your head and shoulders out from behind trees and bushes, or using hand shovels and lettuce leaves to cover "parts".
I currently do not have a garden, so I cannot participate this year. Will you participate in the 14th annual World Naked Gardening Day? If you do, let us know!
