Remember the pride you felt after reeling in a fish far beyond your angling experience? As a 9 year old, I reeled in an 8 pound catfish using stink bait. --Still proud.

An 8 year old named Reese from Wentzville, Mo. spent part of his spring break on the Mississippi fishing and hooked a MASSIVE catfish. Kid pulled a 59.6-pound catfish out of the river. It weighed about as much as he does.

Show Me Catfishing led the Perez family on a guided river excursion to land the big ones and Captain Wally delivered. The excursion was on the river near Alton, Il. when the river dweller bit. Pulling in something equal in size to yourself is more than an exercise.

Once the hefty catfish was hauled in Reese got his picture taken holding it. Then, he released it back into the river.  His fish story embedded in his memory complete with video from Outdoor Life that was shared on social media.

Fishermen, when something like this happens to you as a kid does it spur you on to keep fishing for the rest of your life? Or, do you think to yourself (as a kid) there’s no way I can ever match that again and call it a career at 8?
