The Golden Raspberry award nominees are out again, "celebrating" the worst in movies and cinema over the last year.

In my opinion the Razzies are more fun than the Oscars. If you're like me, you've never seen any of the movies up for best picture anyway, and some years I've never even heard of them. The Razzies are at least tongue-in-cheek, and they make for better debate fodder than a "nice" award.

Looking back, here are the Razzie award "winners" for Worst Picture of the Year since 2000;

  • 2000- Battlefield Earth
  • 2001- Freddy Got Fingered
  • 2002- Swept Away
  • 2003- Gigli
  • 2004- Catwoman
  • 2005- Dirty Love
  • 2006- Basic Instinct 2
  • 2007- I Know Who Killed me
  • 2008- The Love Guru
  • 2009- Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
  • 2010- The Last Airbender
  • 2011- Jack And Jill
  • 2012- The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
  • 2013- Movie 43

I've seen a few of those... 'Catwoman,' 'I Know Who Killed Me,' and 'The Love Guru' and I will agree that they were all terrible. I doubt 'Catwoman' was really the worst movie of the year in 2004, but I think often big name films with big name stars get punished extra if they don't deliver big time, which is fine to me. It's just a silly award and something to laugh about anyway.

Here are the five nominees for "Worst Picture" for 2014. Entertainment Weekly has a full list of nominees in each of the other categories as well.

  • Saving Christmas
  • Left Behind
  • The Legend of Hercules
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Transformers: Age of Extinction

It's apparent that the folks at the Razzies really dislike Transformer movies. I saw the first one and had a lukewarm reaction at best to it. It didn't inspire me to see any more of them.

Have you seen any of the movies on either list? Did you like some of them? The great thing about awards is debating them after all.
