  1. George has been with only one record label for his entire professional career: MCA Records Nashville
  2. While he has not been known for writing many of his hit songs, George says that he did a lot of songwriting very early in his career, but just didn't record many of them. In recent years, George has been doing more songwriting, mostly in collaboration with his son, Bubba.
  3. George has been married once. He and his high school sweetheart, Norma, married in 1971.
  4. The Ace in the Hole band is the only band that has ever backed George Strait since 1975. George joined the band (originally called Stoney Ridge) when he saw a flyer on the campus of Southwest Texas State University. They needed a singer.
  5. In addition to playing guitar, George Strait also plays piano.
  6. George had a cameo appearance in the film 'The Soldier' in the early 80s.
  7. While he is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, George is not a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
  8. George has a degree in agriculture.
  9. George Strait recorded several albums at Jimmy Buffet's Shrimpboat Sound Studio in Key West.
