Tin Dusters and Folk Life and Pickin’ … Oh My!
So many big, major destination events ... so little time.
Three go-to events are taking place in the area this weekend, all returning after taking last year off due to COVID.
In case you're not up to speed, here are the events happening this weekend:
Over 600 pre-1949 street rods are expected to descend on downtown Quincy starting Friday. Activities begin with registration at The Atrium on Third at 10 a.m. and a meet and greet hosting by the Tri-State Lug Nuts at the Quincy Town Center at 7 p.m.
Saturday's highlights include a Show and Shine in downtown Quincy beginning at 8 a.m., with live music, dinner and a dance, all at the Atrium on Third, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The scene shifts to Moorman Park Sunday, with a poker run, vendors, a church service and awards presentation.
While the Tin Dusters take you back, the folk life festival really takes you back, with the downtown historic district in Hannibal filled with artisans demonstrating everything from weaving and spinning, candle making, leather work, furniture making, carving and jewelry.
And there will be food - kettle corn, chicken n noodles, bread pudding and catfish sandwiches, to name a few.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 to 4 Sunday.
Pike County, Illinois (yes, the whole county) rolls out the red carpet Saturday and Sunday, with no less than 13 different communities hosting vendors, artisans, yard sales, and food everywhere.
