Thanks to Only In Your State for putting this on my radar. They recently shared an article about Longmeadow Rescue Ranch near Union, Missouri. Here's a little bit about their mission statement from their official website:

Longmeadow Rescue Ranch, once known as Packwood Longmeadow Farm, was purchased in 1988, made possible by a generous bequest from George Packwood, Jr.
George Packwood’s commitment to the Humane Society of Missouri began as an active supporter of the organization and continues today through his generous donation of land to be used specifically for the care of ranch animals.

This is truly a wondrous place.

Here's the unique thing about Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. If you meet their adoption requirements, you can adopt any of their available animals including horses, pigs, ducks, etc.

Longmeadow also provides educational opportunities that can help anyone understand how to humanely care for these ranch animals. Many arrived at Longmeadow in severe states of neglect. Their effort is to bring these animals back to where they can safely find a home again. Their adoption requirements have an extensive list of qualifications you must match up to.

Longmeadow is open every Friday from noon to 3p and Saturdays 11a until 3p. They are located southwest of St. Louis and Union, Missouri.
