See the Missouri Neighborhood Where “Typical” Home is $2 Million
If I had guessed where the most expensive Missouri neighborhood was, I would have guessed Ladue and I would have been wrong. No, there's a neighborhood that has home values that are typically double what you'll find in Ladue.
I saw this interesting factoid on Stacker, but I've seen references to this Missouri city mentioned other places, too. Stacker's article ranked the top 30 cities in Missouri as far as what their "average" or "typical" home value would be.
The #1 Missouri city with the most expensive homes (by a long shot) is Huntleigh. Population of Huntleigh is 388. That's 388 very rich executives. What's the average home value for a "typical" home there? You might want to sit down for this.
$2,057,742
For reference, the average home value for a place in the very ritzy suburb of Ladue is a mere $1,159,181. A pittance. Ladue is #2 in the most expensive cities list, by the way.
What is a "typical" Huntleigh home like? Oh, this one was available a couple years ago. According to Zillow, this home sold for just south of $2 back in 2020.
The Stacker article said the rich are getting richer as home values in Huntleigh have gone up over 13.5% during the last year. Wow. Could I borrow 10 bucks? I'll be good for it...someday.
As I mentioned, Stacker isn't the only site ranking Huntleigh as the top dog in Missouri home values. The Living St. Louis YouTube channel also praised it for its luxury. They mention all the exotic sports cars you can expect to see on its streets.
