Riley Green's latest single, "In Love By Now," is a mid-tempo ode to a long-gone love interest, and in its acoustic form, the song packs an even grittier, heart-aching punch. Press play above to watch the singer's live acoustic performance in Taste of Country's Nashville studio.

During his visit, Green told Taste of Country that the song took cues from its legendary co-writers -- Ben Hayslip, Marv Green and Rhett Akins -- all of whom have some serious '90s country chops.

"I always kind of went into those meetings [with established artists] with a little competition chip on my shoulder, like, 'Man, I really wanna win these guys over so they'll write with me more,'" the singer explains. "Knowing what era they came from, I remember saying, 'I wanna write something like 'Two Dozen Roses' by Shenandoah' and they all started fumbling for their guitars."

Green's traditional country roots run deep. The singer has said that much of his introduction to the genre came from his grandfather, a Roy Acuff superfan who helped instill the importance of the Grand Ole Opry in the young artist long before he ever made his own Opry debut. Green has also toured with many of the genre's modern-day traditionalist, including Brad Paisley, Justin Moore and Jon Pardi.

Green, who is Taste of Country's newest RISER, has been enjoying a whirlwind year full of touring and milestones. He recently notched his first No. 1 at country radio with his single "There Was This Girl", and released his Get That Man a Beer EP in June. Next up, the singer will embark on his own headlining Get That Man a Beer Tour in the fall of 2019, featuring Travis Denning as opening support.
