When looking for a new home in Quincy, I have been looking for school district and the safety of the neighborhood. This list might help you also, if you are thinking about moving to Quincy or to a different house.

Neighborhoodscout.com has put out their annual list of safest neighborhoods in the country. Here are Quincy's in order from safest to most dangerous...

  1. Fowler / Bloomfield
  2. Fall Creek / Marblehead
  3. North Quincy
  4. Pine Ridge Dr / Columbus Road
  5. Harrison St / S. 30th Street
  6. State St. / S. 24th
  7. Maine St. / N 18th St
  8. S. 12th St / S Park Ter
  9. Harrison St / S 18th St.
  10. Quincy U / Chestnut St.

What did jump out at me is our crime index. On a scale of 1 to 100 (with 100 being the safest), Quincy scored a 12 meaning that we are only safer than 12% of U.S. cities.

It's not all bad though. The website goes on to say that one of the benefits to living in Quincy is the lack of traffic. Basically, you can get anywhere in Quincy in less the 15 minutes. It seems that Quincy is also a great place to work.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Quincy is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Quincy is a city of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Quincy who work in office and administrative support (15.21%), sales jobs (12.98%), and food service (7.14%).
