With so many events cancelled in 2020, it's great to see one of our fall favorites making the events calendar for October. The Clarksville Applefest takes place Oct. 10-11 at the community's historic Apple Shed.

Few small towns have the charm of Clarksville, Missouri. With fewer than 500 people living in the city limits, it has evolved over the years into an artist's enclave on the banks of the Mississippi River. It's a popular destination for day trippers in the St. Louis area who are looking for a quiet and quaint experience. The shops in Clarksville are known for their quality merchandise, offering unique, hand-crafted goods.
The hub of the Clarksville Applefest is the Apple Shed, owned by the Raintree Arts Council. It was built in the 1930s as an apple processing and packaging plant. Today it has been transformed into an exposition hall with a 120-seat theater, art display areas, and a kitchen.

Booths will be set up at the Apple Shed for the weekend festival. Admission is free. The Applefest also features a baby contest, art show, food vendors, a cornhole tournament, a fiddlers contest and live music. A parade will wind through town starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
