New Program To Teach HS Seniors About Entrepreneurship

Several local business owners created a new program for high school seniros to learn about entrepreneurships.

Adams County CEO is set to launch on August 31^st. This is a new course set to engage and teach high school seniors on the ins and outs of starting a business and how to make it successful.

Right now, there are 11 students signed up for the program, which is currently available in 7 schools. Including Adams County, Central High School, Liberty High School, Payson-Seymour High School, Quincy Christian Academy, Quincy Notre Dame, Quincy Senior High School, and Unity High School. The course is yearlong, and is a 90-minute class Monday – Friday.

The program is designed to utilize partnerships that provide an overview of business development and process. The program has several local businesses that will provide expert advice on how to start, and run a business. So, if you have a high school senior that might be interested in starting their own business someday, or maybe going to study business in college, this may be a course that they might be interested in taking this school year.

During the year, students will participate in several hands-on learning activities, but the biggest project is having to create their own class busines, and their very own business that includes a detailed business plan and marketing/financing plans.

There is no cost to take this class, which will meet at area businesses, and change locations throughout the year with several speakers scheduled to learn from. However, they must apply to be a part of the CEO class. A committee from the CEO board will then go through the applications to select students for the class. Students in the CEO class will need to be trustworthy and have a good work ethic. There will be 15 to 20 students per class.
