Traffic Alert: MoDot To Close Highway 61 for Bridge Removal
In a couple weeks (Wed, February 26) the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin the process of replacing the bridge over Highway 61/24 at MO-6 near Taylor in Marion County, including a 24 hour closure of 61/24 starting Saturday night March 1st at 8p. through Sunday March 2nd at 8p to remove the bridge.
During that period drivers on 61/24 will have to use the interchange on/off ramps to navigate that section of highway, however they will not have access to MO-6 itself for those 24 hours.

After removal of the old bridge the project of building a new bridge on 6 across 61/24 will begin. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction. Northbound drivers looking to access MO-6 will be detoured onto route V through Maywood, MO. to get to MO-6 and will not be able to exit on the on/off ramps at MO-6. Southbound traffic will have access at that time to the on/off ramps and MO-6.
Also be aware that there will be occasional road closures during late night hours for bridge crew work between 1a and 4a for 15 minute intervals.
The project is planned to complete by the middle of May 2025 (pending weather delays).
