The sunflowers we planted in our backyard have been blooming for several weeks, but in the world of big popping sunflowers they are definitely junior varsity. They are tall, but they are only a little bigger around than a baseball. Luckily there are several places in Missouri to enjoy big friendly sunflowers this season.

A hotbed of activities southwest of St. Louis, Brookdale Farms has a sunflower maze that opens in September, but also float trips, Farmer’s market, hayrides an tons more, including weddings (!!!)

The namesake flourishes at this magical place that is a popular wedding venue, but also special events and more, but don’t miss their produce café that serves up deliciousness from the surrounding grounds.
