Martina McBride took the ice before the Nashville Predators game on Saturday (June 3) to perform the National Anthem at Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Decked out in a Predators jersey, the powerhouse country vocalist looked nervous, but determined. Watch her performance in the video above.
The star joined an elite roster that includes Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, Vince Gill, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood, all of whom have shown their support for the Predators with killer renditions of the anthem prior to home games. McBride's performance wasn't as big a surprise as most; her daughter Delaney tipped fans off on Thursday (June 1) when she posted a photo on her personal Facebook page of her dad with the Stanley Cup, writing, “When your dad gets to hang with the Stanley Cup? Oh and Tina is singing the anthem on Saturday. LOOK OUT,” which was reported by the Tennessean.
The Predators squared off against the Pittsburgh Penguins in their first home game of the Stanley Cup Final at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, and Music City was abuzz with activity all day long.
Alan Jackson hit the street to play a free concert outside of the arena at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Broadway earlier in the day. "This is an exciting time for the Predators and the city of Nashville. As a fan, I’m proud to be included in their road to the Stanley Cup," Jackson says.
A number of country stars have been showing support for the Preds as the team swept through the playoffs and into the Stanley Cup Final. Aside from Carrie Underwood, whose husband Mike Fisher is captain of the team, Dierks Bentley, Thomas Rhett, Brett Eldredge, Lee Brice, Nashville star Charles Esten and more have been on hand at games or shared their enthusiasm online.
