Just about every area of the Show-Me State has colors worth traveling for. That said, one recommendation is literally right next door.

Highway 79 - Hannibal to St. Louis

In northeast Missouri, especially the stretch from Hannibal to Clarksville, can't be beat to see the colors and the Mississippi.

Highway 94 - Hermann to St. Charles

This will take you along the Missouri River, from the Hermann Wine Trail to the Katy Trail to Missouri's First State Capitol.

Highway 21 - Caledonia to Van Buren

Highway 19 - Cuba to Eminence

In southeast Missouri, just pick a spot and to about any direction for abundant colors. Elephant Rocks State Park, Ozark National Scenic Riverways and the Mark Twain National Forest are just a few possible jumping off spots.

Highways 5, 54 and 52 - Lake of the Ozarks Area

This year round central Missouri destination is especially pretty this time of year, with communities like Versailles, Camdenton and Osage Beach all putting their best foot forward.

Highways 65, 13, 76 - Table Rock Lake Area

I've spent a lot of time traveling those southwest Missouri roads over the years. Along with the scenery, you can go from the Ozark backwoods to the state's third largest city (Springfield). And, of course, there's Branson for the tourists and Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake for the sportsmen.
