Having grown up in the Boy Scouts, on Air Force Bases, no less, I became very familiar with proper flag handling and care. I could fold a flag before I could fold my laundry.

As it turns out, there's a whole list of official guidelines for displaying and storing the flag. Some are simple, like sun-up to sun-down, unless there is a light shining on the flag and proper orientation so the Union (the stars on blue portion) is in the upper-left.

Others cover vehicle displays, proper care and storage, even disposal of a tarnished flag. This Independence Day, and every day you display the flag, make sure you display it properly.
