Jackson’s dad Christian Cantwell was a silver medalist in the shot put at the 2008 Olympics, and finished fourth in 2012. Mom, Terri Steer appeared in the 2000 Olympic games for the USA. Jackson has been training in the shot since he was six years old. He set world records for the shot-put and discus in the 12 and 13 yr old age groups.
Kid has been a standout on the football field too at Nixa High School being ranked the top football prospect in the nation for the class of 2026 by 247Sports, Rivals.com and others. ESPN has him ranked 2nd in the country.

Over the weekend Cantwell came up one centimeter short of setting a new national high school shot put record. Cantwell chucked 12 pounds of heavy metal 76 feet 11 ¼ inches. Just missing the mark set in 1979. He could take another run at it next spring, but he may decide to graduate early to begin his football activities at Miami (Fla). Keep an eye out for potential Olympian and All-American offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell. Remember the name.
