So the Feds Banned a Christmas Decoration in Missouri & Illinois?
I'm a little bit confused and that's not an uncommon status for me. However, there's a common Christmas decoration that apparently is now banned by the federal government and I have so many questions.
I remember now when The Hill first reported about this new government "endeavor" back in April that is having unexpected consequences now.
The US government has been trying to convince citizens to convert their light bulbs from incandescent to LED for years. They say it will save them money in the long run as these bulbs are allegedly much more efficient and will last longer. It appears this was the year they decided not to wait for natural public acceptance anymore and flat out ban incandescent bulbs. After August, you can't legally buy them at any store in America. Only LED are allowable now which translates into this Christmas fact: If you have incandescent Christmas lights, you're technically violating their ban. The nerve?
A personal note: I've used many LED bulbs and have not noticed them being any more durable than the previous incandescent bulbs, plus they were more expensive. But, maybe I just got a bad batch.
Do I really believe the Christmas light SWAT teams will burst through your windows if you are still using incandescent bulbs? No, I do not. But, now there is a government bulb ban that means future Christmas decorations (the legal kind) will be LED only.
I miss the old days.
