Popular Illinois Snack Bars Recalled Due to Fatal Infection Risk

There are snack bars that are so common they're arguably the most popular you'll find in Illinois or any other state in the country for that matter. There's a bulletin from Illinois alerting consumers about a recall due to a potentially fatal infection risk.

The Food and Drug Administration just issued an alert from Chicago which is a mammoth expansion of a recall of Quaker snack and cereal bars. This is in addition to a bulletin they issued in December regarding potential salmonella contamination.

As the Mayo Clinic says, a salmonella infection can be a serious condition for the elderly or those with compromised immune systems and can be fatal for young children. The good news with this recall so far is there are no reported illnesses connected to these potentially contaminated bars according to the press release from Quake in Chicago.

This recall now includes dozens of Quaker granola and cereal snack bars:
