Dire Warning as Deli Meat Listeria Results in Illinois Death
The warning level has now been elevated after a known deli meat outbreak has now been confirmed to have resulted in at least 1 death in Illinois and 43 hospitalizations.
The recall list from the USDA for deli meat that is believed to be responsible for an outbreak of listeria just keeps getting bigger. WGN in Chicago is reporting that there are now 71 products on the expanded recall list.
The CDC has some alarming numbers connected with this recall which has resulted in 3 deaths with 1 being confirmed in Illinois so far.
Among the new deli meat products under this urgent recall are now Boar’s Head Ready-to-Eat Liverwurst Products with Sell by dates range from July 25, 2024, to August 30, 2024.
The advisory says that it's important to check any deli meat you might have in your fridge to make sure it's not a part of the expanded USDA recall list.
While there is 1 death confirmed in Illinois from this Listeria outbreak, it's unclear how many of the 43 hospitalizations might be in the state also.
