Missouri Really Wants to Know If You’ve Seen a Mountain Lion
Something odd is happening in Missouri in regards to mountain lions and the state needs your help to find out why. There's urgency in letting them know if you've seen a big cat recently.
If you look at the confirmed mountain lion sightings map in Missouri, you'll see there are 120 as of the date of this writing.
However, there have been ZERO mountain lion sightings since February 13, 2024. That must be the reason why the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is asking you to contact them if you think you've seen a mountain lion recently. They have set up a special portal where you can submit reports.
There are a lot of sightings in Missouri where people will think they're seeing a mountain lion, but it'll be a bobcat or even a regular large domestic cat. But, the authorities in Missouri want more data because the lack of confirmed mountain lion sightings in 2024 could indicate a new movement pattern for these large predators.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has a specific email address where you can send pictures, video or any other media proving physical evidence of a mountain lion to. You can find it on the state of Missouri's Mountain Lion Sighting Portal.
