Most Dangerous Creature on Earth Leaving Missouri – For Now

I have a hard time understanding how such a tiny creature can be so dangerous, but it's true. When it comes to overall numbers of lives taken, no one species on Earth has been more responsible than this one. Fortunately, they're about to leave Missouri again - for now.

The Missouri Department of Conservation backs up what I'm about to say. There is no creature on Earth that we should all fear more than the tiny yet mighty mosquito. The US Centers for Disease Control estimates that an incredible 700,000 people every year die as the result of mosquitos and the diseases they carry.

There is a light at the end of the rainbow especially this time of year. Generally speaking, the end of September is considered the end of mosquito season in Missouri. No, mosquitos are not ever really completely gone, but the danger months when they are so active include the ones in summer.

For Missouri, 2023 has been even worse than normal due to a new type of mosquito that was found across the state, the Asian Tiger Mosquito. Yikes.

Let's combine mosquitos and tigers and see how that works out, shall we?

I should add a word of caution about the end of September being the end of mosquito season in Missouri. Due to what the National Weather Service calls an 'Omega Block' system over Missouri, warmer temperatures are sticking around longer than normal. That's good news for mosquitos and bad news for the rest of us unfortunately.
