Do you suffer from arachnophobia? If so, be warned that we're approaching the time of year when many Missouri roads will be crawling with large spiders and there will be no way to avoid it.

Have you ever driven down a dirt road in Missouri and seen something like this?

This is a real moment captured by a guy in the Missouri Ozarks. This is a Texas Brown Tarantula and he's on a mission. These male spiders leave their burrows where they normally stay hidden and cross roads and yards looking for a female companion.

When do Texas Brown Tarantulas migrate in Missouri?

As USA Today shared, you'll begin to see tarantulas on the move in southern Missouri starting in late August and continuing through September.

What part of Missouri will you see these big spiders?

The Missouri Department of Conservation shows that Texas Brown Tarantulas are native to the parts of Missouri south of the Missouri River.

The good news is that tarantulas are relatively harmless since they are not venomous, but you don't want to get bitten by one. Talk about a nasty sting. Most of these big spiders are gentle giants and will only strike if they get scared and feel like they're in danger. Still, I think my ample arachnophobia would likely cause a heart issue for me. That's why I'll take a hard pass on camping in the part of Missouri where these spiders are ample.
