Missouri Food Service Lets 63 Go After University Drops Contract
The challenges of food service and higher education appear to have combined as the state of Missouri has been alerted that a provider will be letting 63 workers go after a university ended a contract.
This new WARN notice was just published this week to the Missouri Jobs site revealing that a food service company would be terminating 63 workers at the end of April. It states that Sodexo in Jefferson City, Missouri was a provider for a local university and "loss of contract" was the reason for the mass layoffs.
ABC 17 News is reporting that Sodexo was notified by Lincoln University that their services would no longer be used.
The official Sodexo website says that the company's goal is to "create tailored food and facilities management services unique to your business needs". It states they have over 104,000 employees at more than 3,400 locations around the country.
The WARN notice to the state of Missouri says the layoffs will be effective as of April 30, 2025.
