Who's a good boy? A K9 officer with the Illinois State Police is and he's now equipped with a potentially life-saving bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a kind donation from a group that prides itself in helping canine officers be safe.

Thanks to the Illinois State Police for allowing me to share the good news about one of their K9 officers and the kind gift that will hopefully allow him to serve injury-free. The Public Information Office of the Illinois State Police announced in a press release that K9 Kemco has now received his new body armor. They were kind enough to share a photo with me of Kemco in his new gear.

This new body armor for K9 Kemco comes from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc which has been outfitting animal officers since 2009. They are a non-profit group that has provided "6,225 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations" according to the Illinois State Police. They have been able to provide this service to law enforcement animals and their related fields thanks to individuals and companies who have donated to their cause. They say that donations of $1050 can be enough to sponsor a vest like the one that K9 Kemco now wears. Let's hope it provides him years of safe service for the Illinois State Police in their ongoing battle with evildoers.
