One or Maybe Two Meteors Spotted Over Illinois Monday

Depending on who you ask, there were either one or two meteors spotted over Illinois Monday and both were big enough that they were visible during the daytime even.

The first mention of meteors over Illinois Monday came from Meteorologist Jacob Dickey. He shared this graphic about a fireball that many saw around 1:20pm local time heading north over Illinois.

There was a video shared by Saul Hernandez in the Illinois Storm Community group that showed the after effects of a meteor about 10 minutes later around 1:29pm. The meteor can be seen briefly just to the top left of the trailer in front of the dashcam.

I've seen multiple comments from different Illinois places that disagree on the timing and I think that's because there were two meteors and not just one. There's no way to verify the number of Illinois people that witnessed this as the American Meteor Society website has been taken down by a cyberattack. Their statement on their site estimates they'll be at least partially down for weeks as they recover.
