Bone-Chilling Cold Christmas Predicted for Missouri & Illinois

If the weather nerds are correct, you can expect cuddle weather during Christmas week as both Missouri and Illinois are predicted to experience bone-chilling cold temps.

I saw this shared today by the National Weather Service out of Springfield, Missouri on Facebook. The bluer the area, the colder the temperatures. Notice what part of America is right in the middle of a dark blue bullseye. Yes, that's us. Technically, this is the percent chance of temps being below normal, but you get the idea.

I checked the temps predicted on The Weather Channel website since the National Weather Service forecast only goes out for the next week or so. Starting December 20, the expected low temp for Quincy, IL/Hannibal, MO is 9. For December 21, it's 7. For December 22, it's 5.

That cold snap appears to go through Christmas Day and the day after although highs on Christmas (as of this writing) are supposed to be in the mid-20's with lows in the teens. That's not bad at all. Will we have a white Christmas? That's a good question that I don't have a good answer for...yet.

Keep in mind that this is just a forecast and weather can change in a heartbeat. But, pretty good idea to find the long underwear and garments you need to warm yourself. It appears you're gonna need them sooner rather than later.
