American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall followed through on his threat to have the Illinois Farm Bureau expelled from the federation.

This all stems from the September news the Country Financial would not continue to make policy holders be members of the farm bureau if they didn’t have farm related policies. This move will deplete Illinois Farm Bureau membership from 400,000 to under 80,000. As far as the AFBF is concerned this is unacceptable.

Country Financials decision for policy holders goes into effect in 2025. The AFBF decision to terminate Illinois Farm Bureaus membership goes into effect next month, December 20th.

Negotiations were on going, and talks got heated. Following the AFBF move IFB President Brian Duncan says they still want to be members, and that the AFBF is abandoning Illinois Farm Bureau members. Duncan further added in the statement that the IFB is filing suit in court to make the AFBF accountable to Illinois members.
