South of Quincy, Illinois, if you stay on 24th Street, there’s a road that connects 24th with Herleman Road. Ghost Hollow Road is just over a mile long but packs plenty of activity into that short stretch between 24th and Herleman Road.

Over the weekend, I listened as local workers shared stories of strange occurrences that happened on or near Ghost Hollow Road. A young woman in a white dress and no shoes moving around along the road. A homeowner along the road says his angel statue has probably been misidentified-- but last I checked, statues don’t move around.

There are also the tales of the haunted cemetery off of Ghost Hollow Road. I’ve heard that sightings and reported singing is heard when you get to this small cemetery. But the location is on someone’s private property, so unless you get permission to be there, probably not the safest thing to go looking for.

Hidden cemeteries many times are on private property

You may also hear of buildings or mansions being visible from the road, and then not being there when you go by again, as if they have vanished. There are stories of an old Masonic temple being built along that stretch of road, and that green glowing lights can be seen moving around. One person shared a story of a vehicle driving erratically behind his work truck and when he connected with dispatch, he told them that he would just pull over to let it go by, and when he pulled over, it never passed. It wasn’t there.
