As classes let out for an extended Christmas break, some children are at risk of going hungry without those breakfasts and lunches they get at school. The Hannibal YMCA is stepping up to the plate to fill the bellies of children in need.

Starting December 19, the Hannibal YMCA will give out food boxes with enough supplies to last for two weeks’ worth of breakfasts and lunches. The meals are ready to be prepared and can be stored in the refrigerator until they’re ready to eat.

Anyone 18 and younger can get a food basket. You don’t need to be a Y member and you don’t need to meet any income requirements. Parents need to register on-line or in-person by Tuesday, Dec. 15 to take part in the program. Visit the Hannibal YMCA website by clicking here for quick and easy registration.
