Feztival of Trees in Hannibal This Weekend
Christmas trees decked out in all their finery will shine at a Feztival of Trees in Hannibal. You read that right. It’s called a ‘Fez’tival because it’s in association with the Scottish Rite Freemasons.
The trees will be up at The Depot Banquet Center at 314 S. Main Street as Hannibal celebrates the Victorian Festival of Christmas. Admission is just two dollars, with kids under 12 free.
The public is invited to view the trees during the display period:
Friday, December 4th 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturday, December 5th 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Sunday, December 6th 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Santa Claus will also be available on Saturday and Sunday Dec. 5-6 from 10 am-1pm and 3pm-6pm.
Feztival of Trees is organized by the local Scottish Rite Freemason group to support children who need speech and language therapy services that may not be otherwise covered by the child’s school district or insurance company.
According to the group’s Facebook page:
“In 2010, the Scottish Rite Freemasons Valley of Columbia and RiteCare Valley of Columbia made an inaugural gift to the Hannibal Regional Hospital’s speech therapy assistance program to provide scholarship funds for speech therapy services for children 6 years and under who might not otherwise receive treatment they need. The RiteCare Valley of Columbia supports the ongoing partnership with Hannibal Regional Hospital to perpetuate the mission of helping children.
Our Partnership first began in January of 2010 the funds obtained also allow us to provide speech and language screenings to local daycares; in 2019 alone we have been able to provide free screens to over 850 children; these funds also allow us to purchase equipment or replace items which have been heavily used over
the years.
The scholarship program was established in 2010 and since then we been able to provide speech therapy services to over 65 children and the number of applicants keeps growing.”
