Chris Stapleton’s Unreleased ‘Minimum Wage’ Gets a Little Bluesy [WATCH]

Sometimes, Chris Stapleton's musical aesthetic is as much an ode to bluesy rock 'n' roll as it is to traditional country gold. That's definitely the case with "Minimum Wage," an unreleased cut that's made its way into Stapleton's setlist. Press play above to watch a live version of the new track.

Guitar work that could be likened to anything from Stevie Ray Vaughan to T. Rex carries a new showpiece of Stapleton's mighty yet earthy vocal style. It'd suit Stapleton's past albums, yet it sounds fresh enough to up expectations for a future release.

Per a live review by Omaha.com, Mike Campbell of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Fleetwood Mac fame co-wrote the new song with Stapleton. As a songwriter, Campbell co-wrote many of Petty's biggest hits, including "Refugee" and "You Got Lucky." In the country and Americana realm, Campbell is known for producing Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives' 2017 West Coast homage, Way Out West.

It's not the only new song getting a dress rehearsal in Stapleton's recent sets. He rolled out another unreleased cut over the summer titled "The Bad Side of the Blood." He has also treated fans to a couple of new duets recently, including an appearance on Sheryl Crow's new album Threads, as well as a brand-new onstage John Mayer collaboration called "I Just Remembered That I Didn't Care."

No word yet on new music for Stapleton. His annual All-American Road Show Tour resumes in October with Brothers Osborne and Kendell Marvel as opening acts and continues through early November. For tour dates, check Stapleton's website.
