The 7th annual Caden's Carnival for CDH will be Halloween themed this year in Quincy. The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 18 at the Knight's of Columbus. It will go from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The annual carnival honors Caden Frericks, who passed away in 2008, and raises awareness and money for CDH, Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, a common and deadly birth defect that affects the lungs. Only 50% of CDH babies live to see their first birthday. All proceeds benefit St. Louis Children's Hospital for CDH research.

People are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes and enjoy costume contests, carnival games with prizes, hayrack rides, pony rides, Raptor Rehabilitation Center’s “Birds of Prey” and their slithering snake friend, a bounce house, the inflatable world of sports games and extreme challenge obstacle course, paintball activities, a petting zoo, Home Depot’s building workshop for kids, a helicopter, swat tank and fire truck, plenty of food, prizes and more.

A schedule of other specific events includes:

  • Vancil Dancers from 1:15p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
  • Western Illinois Martial Arts taekwondo demonstration from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Adams County Sheriff’s Department K-9 demonstration from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
