Each Friday at 9:30am, KICK-FM will feature an artist on the rise during the Breakthrough Artist of the Week.

Straight out of Nashville, it's almost as if Mitchell Tenpenny was born to be a country star, and given his early interest in songwriting, he probably was. But growing up in Nashville gave him a healthy respect for all music, not just country, and counts a range artists as his influences, from The Oak Ridge Boys to Michael Jackson, John Mayer to R. Kelly. Tenpenny has already hit the top 5, having cowritten Granger Smith's smash "If The Boot Fits," but now it's time for this singer/songwriter to climb the charts on his own. For more about Mitchell Tenpenny, visit his website. His self-titled EP featuring his debut single "Drunk Me," is available on iTunes.
