In a Facebook post, officials with the Brown County Fair announced their 2020 fair has been cancelled.

Members of the fair board met with community leaders, insurance agents, fair officials and public health officials and came to the conclusion that it was not feasible to safely and economically host this year’s fair.

The Brown County Fair has been in continuous operation since 1874, making it one of the longest running fairs in the state.

The Brown County Fair has also been known for many years as the only county fair in Illinois to allow pari-mutual betting on its harness races during the fair.
