Doc Holliday

Born and raised in Hannibal, Missouri...I stopped maturing at age 12 and I have the radio show to prove it.  Authorities found me at age 19 in a corner talking to myself...so they decided to give me a pair of headphones, a microphone and a brand new room (with padded walls) for me to talk to myself in...and they called it radio...and that brings us to today. I have been torturing (I mean "entertaining") listeners for 29 years and have been fortunate to win many Missouri Broadcaster awards along the way...which just proves how much everyone else sucks. Truth is I have the best radio listeners in the world who treat me better than any human being could possibly deserve.  And that special relationship we have will continue...at least until K-Mart starts hiring again.

Happy Birthday To My Wife

It's my wife's birthday today. I'm not gonna tell how old she is, but let's just say that she was around to enjoy our nation's bicentennial. That's as specific as I'm getting. I've been told that a wife's birthday is no time for a man to try and be funny. Problem is I've always had a hard time listening to directions.

I Wonder If Dan Quayle Still Hates Me

I have a story to tell you and it involves former Vice President Dan Quayle. It may sound like a whopper, but I swear to you it's true. Dan Quayle hates me. Bear with me, and I'll try to explain to you why.  It involves me, comedian Bill Murray, some unruly radio listeners, Pebble Beach Golf Course...and yes, Dan Quayle.

9th Annual Hannibal Jaycees’ Wing Ding January 26

If area chickens appear to be extra nervous this time of year, we think we know why. The 9th Annual Hannibal Jaycees' Wing Ding is nearly upon us! This year's event is set for Saturday, January 26 at the Admiral Coontz Armory and it looks to be an even bigger party this year! Two things are certain: Hot wings will be cooked and hot wings will be eaten.  The theme this year is something KICK-FM Nation can appreciate..."It's 5 o'clock Somewhere"...

Candlelight Vigil In Quincy This Friday For Child Abuse Awareness

One of our friends here at the radio station is Chris Prewitt and he asked us to pass along the word that the annual candlelight vigil in remembrance of Alan Madden will be held this Friday at 5:30pm at Graceland Cemetery, 38th and Maine in Quincy. Chris has done this for several years and is asking friends to bring a candle (or flashlight) and spend a few minutes for the sake of remembering Alan and bringing awareness to child abuse in our area.

I’m Tired Of Companies Spying On Me

I'll just come right out and say it. I'm being spied on and I'm tired of it. This is ironic considering the fact that I don't consider myself a very interesting person. The really bad news? You're being spied on, too.  It happens in your car, by what you do on your phone and yes, you're being spied on right now at this website.

Zac Brown Band Nails National Anthem Before BCS Title Game

I don't know how much of the mauling you watched last night between Alabama and Notre Dame...but hopefully you at least tuned in before the game. If not, you missed one of the best versions of the National Anthem I've ever heard. Kudos to the Zac Brown Band for not only dressing respectfully, but also doing a beautiful harmonic version of our country's anthem.

Who You Got in Tonight’s BCS National Championship Game?

It doesn't get any better than it will get tonight for a college football fan. The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame vs the Crimson Tide of Alabama. I have family (definitely cut from the Notre Dame cloth) who will be at tonight's game. So the official Holliday family cheering section definitely sides with Notre Dame. I also have friends (very loud friends) on Facebook who bleed Crimson Tide.

4th Annual Local Area Musicians Charity Concert Set For January 25

They've been doing this for four years now (that's where the "4th Annual" part comes in) and this year's event looks to be the best yet. It's the 4th Annual Local Area Musicians Charity Concert and it's set for Friday, January 25th.  This is an event that benefits the local Leaps Of Love organization.  Last year's show raised over $4000 and they'd love to beat that this year.

Trends I’d Like To See End In 2013: Facebook Bathroom Pics

I'm a pretty tolerant person. Some of my better friends are Cub fans. A few of them are even democrats. I've lived through Detroit Red Wing Stanley Cup Championships (*shudder*). But, one trend I would LOVE to see end this year is people taking pictures of themselves in the bathroom and posting them on Facebook.
