Well, that was interesting. Just when you think you've got the Oscars figured out, they throw you a huge curve ball. Or, maybe what's so surprising about this year's nominations is how nothing is really different?

The 2015 Golden Globes winners are considered somewhat of a primer for the upcoming Oscars (both of which feature many of the same big Hollywood names and movies of the past year), but not exactly a perfect predictor either. Many movies and actors have won at the Golden Globes only to not even be nominated at the Oscars. Comedic duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are returning to host the Globes for the third straight year, which is awesome if you like awesome things. But enough of that, let’s get down to the list of nominees! Kate Beckinsale, Peter Krause, Jeremy Piven and Paula Patton joined the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to announce the 2015 Golden Globes nominations. The 2014 Oscar winners were announced Sunday, March 2 during the awards ceremony, hosted by celebrated comedienne Ellen DeGeneres and broadcast live by ABC.

The Academy Awards will be handed out on March 2, 2014. Pretty much every aspect of film-making is recognized during Hollywood's biggest night, including awards for movie music, like film scores and Best Original Song. Country music hasn't had the best luck at the Academy Awards. Going all the way back through the 1960s, not a single country song has taken home an Oscar. A few have been nominated.

After a lengthy awards season with Ben Affleck's 'Argo' as the clear frontrunner, picking up Best Picture and Best Director titles every chance it had, the flick ended up snagging the big award of the evening -- Best Picture!
