It is spring time. That is when people throw out what they don't need anymore. We want everything to look good and clean. Same thing for the roadways. Spring is when the Adopt-A-Highway program begins to take off.

A two-minute video from the Missouri Department of Transportation offers motorists tips for staying safe when forced to drive in winter weather conditions.

MoDOT works hard to clear roads after a snowfall to make them safe for motorists. Clearing roads also involves cleaning up intersections, interchange ramps and median crossovers. Motorists should give snowplows plenty of room to work, remember not to tailgate and try not to pass.

Another major winter storm is making its way into Missouri, bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds across much of the state on Feb. 25-26. Due to expected hazardous conditions, the Missouri Department of Transportation has issued a "no travel advisory" for the duration of the event.

The work on the Champ Clark Bridge scheduled for today was postponed due to the weather. Weather permitting, Tuesday October 2, 2012 MoDOT crews will close the Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana to perform sealing operations.

Look for traffic to be shut down for a couple of hours on Tuesday crossing the Mississippi River at Louisiana. Missouri Department of Transportation bridge crews will be performing a routine inspection and preventative maintenance on the Champ Clark Bridge over the Mississippi River on U.S. 54 at Louisiana from Aug. 20 to Aug. 30.

If you've lived in this area for any period of time, surely at some point you've had the "joy" of going through the intersection where Highway 61/McMasters meets West Ely Road and Pleasant Street.  It really becomes a party when you cross this area between 4p and 5p on a Friday afternoon.  Well, put on your seat belts (it is the law after all), cause next week will begin all kinds of fun
