Good Information to Know Ahead of the 2014 Marion County Fair

It's hard to believe it's already fair time. Last year during the Marion County Fair, my niece won a rabbit. Then we missed the shuttle back to our truck, which meant that I got to wrangle a live rabbit all the way across the fairgrounds, then through the enormous parking area. I'm happy to report that I did not drop the rabbit, and both of us arrived relatively unharmed. It's amazing to me that a year has already gone by. Here are some good things to know ahead of the 2014 Marion County Fair in Palmyra, which is scheduled for July 26 - August 2.

Hannibal Storm Damage [Photo Gallery]

On May 20, 2013, straight-line winds from severe storms resulted in significant damage to homes and businesses in Hannibal. Marion County Emergency Management Director John Hark estimated that "most" of the city, perhaps as much as 80%, was affected in some way by the storm. Power was out in parts of Hannibal for multiple days, and some residents reported that buying groceries in the city was difficult because so many businesses were closed due to the outage.
