Will Missouri’s Gun Laws PROTECT the Super Bowl Parade Shooters?

According to an article from clickorlando.com, the perpetrators of the mass shooting at the parade for the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs may be protected under Missouri's unique gun laws. In the article, they say...

"Experts say that even though the shooting left one bystander dead and roughly two dozen people injured, 23-year-old Lyndell Mays and 18-year-old Dominic Miller might have good cases for self-defense through the state’s “stand your ground” law...Trial attorney Daniel Ross described the stand your ground law as a “formidable defense” that he and many other Kansas City defense attorneys anticipate will be used in Mays' and Miller's cases."

The article goes on to mention that the stand-your-ground law puts pressure on the prosecution to disprove that shooting wasn't necessary for self-defense. Is this a bad look for Missouri?

The mass shooting at the Super Bowl Parade in Kansas City is one of the more widely covered mass shootings in recent history and so there will be mass media coverage on these trials, does it give Missouri a bad look? I am not sure, I will say that most mass shootings end with the shooter dead, or in custody, and it is a pretty easy case to close and put the "bad guy" away for a long time. This mass shooting seems like it will be anything but an easy case, and I know we will be watching it closely...
