Missouri is a state that is known for its incredible BBQ, Fried Ravioli, and Breweries, so we were shocked to learn that the experts ranked a city in Missouri as one of the healthiest in the country. Here are the details on the healthiest city in the Show-Me State...

According to WalletHub's list of the Healthiest Cities in America 2024, St. Louis, Missouri is the healthiest city in the Show-Me State and the 36th most healthy city in the US ahead of cities like Kansas City ranked 114th, Columbia SC ranked 122nd, and even healthier than the people in Anaheim, California ranked 52nd.

How did WalletHub come up with these rankings? On their site, they say "To determine which areas prioritize residents’ well-being, WalletHub compared more than 180 of the most populated U.S. cities across 41 key indicators of good health. Our data set ranges from the cost of a medical visit to fruit and vegetable consumption to the share of physically active adults." The main reason why St. Louis is ranked so high on WalletHub's list is because St. Louis ranks 11th in the country in the important "Fitness" ranking, to see the complete list of the healthiest cities in America, click here!

Did they get it right?

The fact that their data determined that St. Louis is the 36th most healthy city in the US is pretty wild, St. Louis is a city that has a culture of Italian food, BBQ, and breweries everywhere. But the data also determined that the healthiest cities are Seattle, San Deigo, San Francisco, and Honolulu, which makes sense, so maybe the data does work. I will add that it is important to remember small cities weren't considered in this ranking, WalletHub is only looking at the top 180 most populated cities in the US, so there may be healthier small cities in Missouri than St. Louis, they just weren't considered.
